June 28-July 2: Attending the American Librarian Association's summer convention to receive the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe New Talent Award.
June 14: MIXED ROOTS Film and Literary Festival appearance with Kim Wayans, 10-11:15 a.m. and panel discussion post-screening of film My People Are: Youth Pride in Mixed Heritage, 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Additional reading, 2-5 p.m. Whether you are multiracial, in an interracial family, or just know someone who is, come out and be moved by the art of mixed race people from around the country. The festival runs from June 12-14 and is being held in Los Angeles at the Japanese American National Museum.
June 10: School visit at Aki Kurose Middle School, Seattle, WA
June 7: Barnes & Noble West reading and signing, Madison, WI, 2 p.m.
May 18: Appearing at two wonderful, independent bookstores in Portland, OR, along with writer friends Joni Sensel and Thatcher Heldring -- A Children's Place at noon, and Powell's in Beaverton at 2 p.m.
May 16: School visit at Gateway Middle School, Everett, WA
April 24: Reading to kids and parents at "Take Your Kids to Work Day," Starbucks' Headquarters, Seattle, WA
January 18: Speaking to 6th graders at Pasadena Christian School, Pasadena, CA
January 19: Brendan Buckley's LOS ANGELES area premiere! Reading and signing at Once Upon A Time Bookstore, Montrose, CA, 2:00 p.m.
September 21: Random House booth appearance at Pacific Northwest Booksellers' Association convention, Bellevue, WA, 10:30 a.m.
